New poem for Winchester Woolly Hat Fair

Really pleased to be invited to write a poem for this year’s Winchester Woolly Hat Fair.

Hat Fair is the UK’s longest running festival of outdoor arts and the ‘Woolly’ edition is a new winter event (now in its second year) designed to bring the spirit of Hat Fair to the city’s Christmas celebrations.

woolly-hat-fair-2016Throughout December 2016, 12 free events inspired by the carol The Twelve Days of Christmas will take place across various locations .

Festivities will kick off at 5pm on Saturday 3rd December at The Gallery, Winchester School of Art – under the boughs of a pop-up pear orchard created by fashion and textiles students from Winchester School of Art. Live Canon will open Woolly Hat Fair with a bespoke collection of sonnets, haikus, fables and rhyming couplets – including my poem, The One – all written in response to the festive riddle: how did the partridge come to be in the pear tree?
